There’s a time to be still and a time to move on! During your time of stillness, God will give you an idea, a vision, or a plan. But after you get it you usually have to move out and move on. You have to take action!
I think sometimes we want conditions to be perfect before we pursue our destiny and dreams. Typically, in life, conditions are not perfect. It seems the timing is never right to step out of the boat and onto the water.
There comes a time that you have to stop crying, complaining, doubting, and procrastinating. You just have to get on with it.
You have to start where you are and move in the direction that you want to go. You have to use the resources already available to you, now!
In the movie Collateral(2004), Tom Cruise stars as Vincent, an assassin, and Jamie Fox stars as a taxi driver named Max Durocher. During the scene “Carpe Diem“, Vincent mocks Max because, after 12-years of driving a taxi Max is still stating that someday he wants to start his own limousine service. Vincent says to Max: (WARNING! The video contains two cuss words but for the “clean” version see the typed quote below.)
“Look in the mirror.. A little company someday? How much you’ve got saved? Someday, someday my dream will come?” One night you’ll wake up and you’ll discover it never happened. It’s all turned around on you, and it never will. Suddenly you are old. It didn’t happen, and it never will because you were never going to do it anyway. You’ll push it into a memory, then zone out in your Barcalounger, being hypnotized by daytime TV for the rest of your life… All it ever took was a down payment on a Lincoln Town Car..”
Don’t let the lines above become your reality. Whatever you want in life; go for it – as long as it is positive and worthy. Plan and then start where you are! Time is ticking away; so, seize the day. Follow your destiny and live your dreams!
